DESCRIPTION OF MY BEST FRIEND

JULIA

My best friend's name is Julia. She is 14 years old and she lives in Aldaya, Valencia, but she was born in China.
She studies at the same school as me. She usually gets good marks, like me, so we hardly ever haven't problems.  We always talk about the fact that we want to be veterinarians, and work together.
She hasn't got any brother or sister, she lives with her mother in a beautiful flat. Her best friends are Sara, Laura and me, but she has a lot of friends out of school too.

We love drawing and watching anime and manga, so we are otakus*, and we usually draw together. She likes a lot of types of food, but she dislikes roast food. She loves a lot of outdoor activities, but she hates boxing and tennis.

Julia has a normal heigh and a normal weight for her age. She has long straight and black hair that I love, and she has dark slanted eyes. She normally wears comfortable clothes, because she prefers to be comfortable than wear another type of clothes, like Sara and me, but it look kawaii* on her.

She is always happy and smiling, and she's a really good friend. She sometimes is so lazy, but she is very clever.

I think Julia is a wonderful person and I'm really grateful that she become my friend.

*otaku: Otaku means a person who likes a lot manga, anime and videogames.
*kawaii: Kawaii means cute or nice in japanese.

CRACKERS!!

CRACKERS

This year, for Christmas, we made crackers. The teacher explained us that the crackers are typical for UK in Christmas and we wanted to make us our own crackers.

At first, we write our names on a piece of paper and then each took a piece of paper from the pile, and the name of the person who was in the paper, would be the person that you will make the cracker.

After, we wrote in the agenda which materials needed for make the cracker.

We made our crckers in our houses and in the english class. Finally, at 17th of december, we split the crackers in class, everybody receive her cracker and all of them were very nice and beautiful. Each cracker had to wear: A cap of tissue paper, sweets and chocolates, a letter saying nice things to that person and a bad joke.

THE ZIPPER

THE ZIPPER

The zipper is an invention that has to be refined many times over the years.

The first was invented in 1851, in EEUU, by EliasHowe, but it didn't work very well because it wasn't made well.

40 years later (in 1891), Whitcomb L.Judson improved it considerably, but with this system, the deslizant part had to put over (after closed), and then had to put in the pocket. As the invention was not very practical, it was never sold.

In 1906, Gideon Sundback, Swedish, took the company of Judson and created the desing that we know today, and he took it for sale in 1914.

At first, the zipper was used only for boots and "tabarqueras", but in the twenties they started using it in pants and in children clotes.

In the thirties, the designer Elsa Schiaparelli included the zipper in some of his desings and thereafter it joined many types of clothing.

Now, the most biggest business of zippers in the world is the japanese company "YKK", wich was founded by Tadao Yoshida in 1934. Japan produces more than half of zippers of the world.

The name "zipper" in Spanish is "cremallera", this word comes from the French "crémallière", wich comes from the Latin "cramaculus", wich comes from the Greek "kremastrê", wich means "hanging".
