MY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS (2014 - 2015)

MY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

(2014 - 2015)

In this Christmas holidays I went to Torrelavega, Cantabria,  to visit my grandparents, my uncle and aunt and my little cousins, Isabel and Pedro. I  was there from december 23rd to 29th.  I was very happy when I played with my little cousins and with my brothers, premiering the new toys.

THE  BEST DAY IN TORRELAVEGA!:
The day that I liked more was  the 28th of december, because we went to the mountains to see if there was snow, and yes, there was a lot of snow! But it was snowing heavily and we had to go home.
I also enjoyed the day we went to Bilbao, we saw the Guggenheim, the Puppy and a lot of famous things more!

DECEMBER 25th:
The december 25th Santa Claus came to our house! We had a lot of presents and we were very happy. I had many presents: The Idhun encyclopedia, a wallet, a portable Charger for my mobile phone and a 2015 calendar. And the presents that I like more were the Idhun encyclopedia and the wallet.

I have also gone to León to visit my other grandparents, my other uncle and aunt and my others cousins, Claudia and Lucas. I was there from december 29th to january 3rd. There I was very happy too, especially on New Year's Eve.

THE BEST DAY IN LEÓN:
The day that I liked more was  the december 31st. In the morning we began to prepare things for the night, in the afternoon we made dinner and at the night we went to my uncles house and we celebrated the New Year's Eve. We arrived at home at 2am., but we had fun.

JANUARY 1st:
Surprise! When we got up in the morning, there was presents in living room! My presents: a mountain pants, a wool gloves and a purse.

HOMECOMING!
We returned home, in Valencia, on January 3rd, and when we just put the luggage my father and I went to pick up my greyhounds. they had stayed at home of a friend (that she is a collaborator with GALGOS 112), and she took care of my greyhounds very well.

CRACKERS!!

CRACKERS

This year, for Christmas, we made crackers. The teacher explained us that the crackers are typical for UK in Christmas and we wanted to make us our own crackers.

At first, we write our names on a piece of paper and then each took a piece of paper from the pile, and the name of the person who was in the paper, would be the person that you will make the cracker.

After, we wrote in the agenda which materials needed for make the cracker.

We made our crckers in our houses and in the english class. Finally, at 17th of december, we split the crackers in class, everybody receive her cracker and all of them were very nice and beautiful. Each cracker had to wear: A cap of tissue paper, sweets and chocolates, a letter saying nice things to that person and a bad joke.

THE ZIPPER

THE ZIPPER

The zipper is an invention that has to be refined many times over the years.

The first was invented in 1851, in EEUU, by EliasHowe, but it didn't work very well because it wasn't made well.

40 years later (in 1891), Whitcomb L.Judson improved it considerably, but with this system, the deslizant part had to put over (after closed), and then had to put in the pocket. As the invention was not very practical, it was never sold.

In 1906, Gideon Sundback, Swedish, took the company of Judson and created the desing that we know today, and he took it for sale in 1914.

At first, the zipper was used only for boots and "tabarqueras", but in the twenties they started using it in pants and in children clotes.

In the thirties, the designer Elsa Schiaparelli included the zipper in some of his desings and thereafter it joined many types of clothing.

Now, the most biggest business of zippers in the world is the japanese company "YKK", wich was founded by Tadao Yoshida in 1934. Japan produces more than half of zippers of the world.

The name "zipper" in Spanish is "cremallera", this word comes from the French "crémallière", wich comes from the Latin "cramaculus", wich comes from the Greek "kremastrê", wich means "hanging".
